Opening Remarks

by Andrée-Lise Méthot, Founder and Managing Partner, Cycle Capital

Andrée-Lise is the Founder and Managing Partner of Cycle Capital, an impact investor and Canada’s largest private cleantech venture capital platform with AUM of $0.5B. In addition to serving on some portfolio companies’ boards of directors, she sits on the board of SDTC and Société Québécoise des infrastructures, she’s the Founder and Chairperson of the Ecofuel Accelerator and co-Founder of the Ecofuel Fund. She is also a member of the Paris Green Fund’s strategic committee, member of the Cleantech Group’s North American Advisory Committee and member of the Bloomberg New Energy Finance’s Pioneers’ selection committee. Officer of the Ordre national du Québec, she received the “Grand prix d’excellence de l’Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec et ingénieur de l’année” from the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec, was named as one of Canada’s Clean16 and amongst the most influential women in sustainable development and in the cleantech industry by Corporate Knights.

Shirley Speakman, Senior Partner

Cycle Capital

Shirley Speakman is a Senior Partner with Cycle Capital based in Toronto. She sits on Cycle Capital’s portfolio companies in plastics and polymer upcycling and transformation, IoT and energy storage and efficiency. She was recognized as one of Canada’s Clean16 and one of Canada’s Inspiring Fifty. A recognized successful venture investor, she is active Canada’s innovation ecosystem working with NSERC and MaRS among other organizations.

Dominique Boies, CEO & CFO

Enerkem

As Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer, Dominique Boies leads all of Enerkem's strategic and operational activities, in addition to being responsible for defining and implementing the company’s financial strategy. He joined Enerkem in January 2017. Mr. Boies brings over 20 years of experience in senior executive roles in finance and operations, namely with RONA, RBC Royal Bank and the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Quebec.

Marc Leduc, Investment Manager

BASF Venture Capital

Marc Leduc joined BASF Venture Capital as an Investment Manager in February 2017. He began his career at BASF in polymer research in 1999, subsequently holding various positions in product development and marketing. Recently, as Senior Manager in the Incubation unit at BASF New Business GmbH, Marc Leduc developed new growth areas for the BASF Group. He received a Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry from Cornell University and performed post-doctoral research at the ETH Zurich. He holds an MBA from the University of Oxford.

Martha Hall Findlay, Chief Sustainability Officer

Suncor

As Chief Sustainability Officer, Martha helps steward Suncor's external relationships in support of Suncor’s economic, environmental and social performance leadership. She oversees Suncor’s sustainability strategy, public policy and government relations efforts, and communications. Martha is responsible for the continued deepening of the company’s Indigenous, stakeholder, and community relations, as well as Suncor’s social innovation agenda, and is a Board of the Suncor Energy Foundation.

Jodie Morgan, CEO

GreenMantra

Jodie has led the growth of six separate entities. She brings broad experience from PE, VC, public/private, domestic/international, start-ups/turn-arounds. Industry experience includes: specialty chemicals, food ingredients and pharmaceutical excipients. She started in Engineering and then Sales and Marketing with ICI Americas. Subsequently joining SPI Holdings (Harrowston - PE) as Commercial VP honing her stills in high-growth strategies (EV growth $50M to $200M, exited 10X+). Jodie became President of SPI Polyols (ABF, plc.) turning around the business achieving 20+% EBITDA margins. Jodie also held the President role at Solazyme Roquette, a biotech start-up, and Pinova Inc., a company based on renewable resources (exited 13X+).

Rhea Hamilton is the Managing Director Ventures of OGCI Climate Investments, a USD 1+ billion fund that invests in solutions to decarbonise sectors across energy, industrials, and transport. She has over 20 years of international experience with a majority dedicated to venture capital/private equity in clean technology and renewable energy. Ms. Hamilton holds a Geological/Geophysics Engineering degree from UBC, and MBA from IESE, Spain.

Michel is the President & CEO of AecopaQ. He has worked in several countries around the world where he held top management positions in SMEs in several sectors. He joined the Club Med team as Sales Director for Eastern Canada, then moved on to Sales and Marketing Director for Canada and to Commercial Director for Canada where he led Club Med Canada Inc. He then became General Manager of Signature Vacations Quebec where he concluded the M&A with Royal Vacation and brought the company to profitability. The experience that he acquired benefited him as a consultant for SMEs.
